TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team Driver 2024

May 23, 2024

With three double-header rounds remaining until the end of the season, the FIA Formula E World Championship has arrived in China for the first-ever E-Prix at the permanent Shanghai International Circuit. For Pascal Wehrlein (TAG-Heuer Porsche), currently lying second in the table, it is a great opportunity to repeat the German factory team’s strong Berlin performance, in which he finished fifth and fourth and his teammate António Felix da Costa took a win, and claw back the 16-point deficit on the leader, Jaguar’s Nick Cassidy.

The 29-year-old MIM-contracted driver is confident that his strong Porsche powertrain unit will help him to produce a competitive performance in what promises to be an energy-management style race at the shortened 3.051 km Formula 1 circuit, which the German actually raced on back in the 2016 Chinese Grand Prix.

“I’m looking forward to getting to know the circuit and the city,” declared Pascal on his arrival in Shanghai. “We recently gave a strong team performance in Berlin, which António crowned with his victory. That’s what we’re keen to repeat in Shanghai. With only six races left this season, we can’t afford to leave any points behind.”

The Shanghai Formula E weekend follows a regular three-day format, with Free Practice scheduled for Friday afternoon (in China), then Free Practice, Qualifying and Race 1 on Saturday, and the same timetable again on Sunday.
